Food Lover's Emilia-Romagna

Savor the glorious cuisine and food products of Emilia-Romagna. You will be led by Marcello and Raffaella, the husband and wife team, who are our Italian affiliates. As natives, they will lovingly shepherd you through cooking classes, wonderful meals and visits to producers of local specialties.
Day 1
Transfer from Bologna airport to Riolo Terme hotel.
Dinner of traditional food of the Romagna area at a typical trattoria.
Day 2
Morning excursion to Giardino delle Erbe, a botanical garden with over 400 herbs for cooking, medicine, cosmetics.
Afternoon cooking lesson with Nicola featuring local herbs.
Day 3
Ravenna, famous for its Byzantine mosaics and architecture.
Afternoon pasta and cooking lesson with Gianna at her home.
Day 4
Morning drive to Langhirano, Prosciutto di Parma area, and visit to a producer.
Lunch at a local restaurant to taste the best salami of the area.
Fish and seafood dinner.
Day 5
Visit a Parmigiano Reggiano family factory. In Modena, we visit a producer of traditional Balsamic Vinegar. We're privileged to taste 25 year old balsamic vinegar.
Late afternoon cooking lesson with Maria Grazia on some regional specialties like strozzapreti, a special kind of hand made pasta.
Day 6
Morning excursion to Bologna to visit the central market area crowded with irresistible food shops.
After lunch, leave for Faenza, to visit a ceramic factory.
Gala farewell dinner at San Domenico restaurant in Imola, one of the best in Italy.
Day 7
Depart for home.
Cost
$3,900 (USD) includes hotel for six nights (single occupancy), all meals and activities outlined in itinerary, transfers to Bologna airport. Not included: airfare to and from Bologna, most wine and alcoholic beverages, personal expenses. |
