Drama

"By whatever means it is accomplished, the prime business of a play is to arouse the passions of its audience so that by the route of passion may be opened up new relationships between a man and men, and between men and Man. Drama is akin to the other inventions of man in that it ought to help us to know more, and not merely to spend our feelings."

- Arthur Miller

New York City Theatre

October 2 - 6, 2007

Our theatre tour covers the gamut of theatre in New York City ... Broadway, Off Broadway and Off-Off Broadway. Exact plays and performances are not possible to predict far in advance.

Highlights Include:

Three theatre events:

One Broadway Production

One Off Broadway or Off-Off Broadway Production

A Third Theatre Event (depending on which of the following are performing): The Pearl Theatre ... a fine Off Broadway repertory theatre group or Food for Thought ... lunch and a reading of a one-act play by well-known actors at the The Players Club in Gramercy Park

***Just added*** A walking tour of the historic theatre district starting on 42nd Street. You’ll be fascinated by our guide Bill’s stories. As a stage manager for 35 years, he regales us with the gossip, the business deals, the triumphs and failures of The Great White Way.

A visit to the NY Performing Arts Library ... there's always an interesting exhibition focusing on some aspect of the theatre. We could also look at original manuscripts or watch video.

Another bonus, depending on their availability, Constance and Frank, a husband and wife duo, an actress and playwright, will join us for lunch at Sardi’s and give you their insight into many aspects of the theatre.

We will confirm the price if you choose a weekend stay. A note to thank you for a delightful four days in New York.

Although I have a small working knowledge of the big city, it has been many years since being there and and some things I just would have not done or enjoyed had you not worked so hard to plan them. Small recitals, restaurants, all took a good planning ... I enjoyed myself thoroughly.
